Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

If you have access to the internet on a phone or computer, please go to www.southgatemedicalgroup.co.uk and click the Appointments button, select Online appointment request form and then select new condition. You will be asked some information about your problem and how you would like us to deal with it. This information will help us respond to you in the most appropriate way and that you prefer.
If you cannot use the internet for any reason, please call us – we will enter your details into our website for you. This may take longer than our previous system, so please be patient and only call if you cannot use our website. The same process will apply if you come into the surgery and ask at Reception.
Since the start of Covid we have been unable to pre-book appointments with GPs and this means that all patients requesting an appointment have to call at 8.30am. This is stressful for patients, and can mean that we are not always able to see the people that need us most. By putting all requests into one system we can review all requests and prioritise the people that need help urgently. We can help our patients in an appropriate way depending on what their request is, at a time and in a way that they prefer.
After you send your appointment request on our website, our doctors will aim to review it on the same day and let you know the outcome as soon as they can. They may be able to help you without booking an appointment, or they may be able to help you on the phone. If you need to be seen face to face, they will let you know the time and who you will see, taking into account your preferences and availability.
In the event that we run out of GP appointments, our reception team may arrange an appointment with a local pharmacist as part our pharmacy refer service or our local “hub” service if suitable.

A “hub” service is a groups of local practices working together to provide extra appointments at shared locations in evenings and weekends. It is a normal GP appointment but sometimes the doctor will be working in another local surgery and you will be asked to go there for your appointment.

If you are unable to book for a same day appointment or one of our alternative options and you feel your appointment cannot wait until the next day please call 111.
To book routine appointments with one of our nurses or another services that we provide please call after 11:00 when the phone lines will be quieter.

Nurse appointments are available up to 8 weeks in advance.

If you have further questions please ask a member of the reception team.
